4.2. Cardinal Numbers

Numbers in LSC can be signed using one or both hands. Both hands are used in formal contexts in which receptors need to understand the figure clearly, such as in conferences. It is common however to use only one hand. Thus, numbers 1 to 5 are signed with the palm of the hand towards the body and number 6 to 10 with the palm of the hand facing the person we are communicating with.

Numbers higher than 10 incorporate a simple movement as seen below:

After the number 999 we will use the sign for THOUSAND:
